best salsa places

The great thing about Canada is that every culture is represented here, there is so much see and explore and what better way to experience the Latin scene with your dancer friends than finding the best salsa places right in Toronto. You can even find free events and complimentary lessons provided by professional dance instructors at many Latin clubs in Toronto.

And if you try to pull that ‘I have two left feet’ mambo jumbo, there are many of beginners free lessons provided by the club before opening up the floor. Even if you make mistakes, who cares, you are still going to have fun buy just trying (or fake it until you make it). Get your dancing shoes ready for the best salsa places in Toronto:

EL Convento Rico

The Legendary Mother House, this gem of a place for salsa it’s just too great as it is entertaining. Located in the heart of little Italy Toronto, this place has near legendary status as a place that is full of life and surprises!  It’s been opened for over 26 years, with exceptional drag shows and unique mix of Latin music all night, this place is poppin with Latin vibes on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. It’s the place where you will party it up and show off your moves all night. Oh! and don’t forget the complimentary salsa lessons, they usually offer free beginner lessons on Saturdays around 9pm. After the lesson, the dance floor opens up to everyone and the real party starts! Convento is definitely one of my favorite Latin clubs and will recommend it as one of best salsa places in Toronto. Lula Lounge

Travel back to Havana at Lula, it’s a great place to listen live Latin bands who really know how to get the party started, this place will make you feel like you have travelled back to Cuba with their unique Latin rhythms and Cuban flavour. This unique lounge offers a distinctive dance floor experience like no other, making this nightclub one of the best salsa places in Toronto. Their live bands play every Friday and Saturday and they also offer complementary dance lessons. Since this place also offers a full restaurant service, before your nightlife starts, try some of their delicious Cuban dinner plates and enjoy some romantic candle light dinner before starting your night at the dance floor. And don’t worry about missing this place, if you are walking on Dundas street in little Portugal it will be impossible to miss the big bright Lula sign, they seriously went all out with lights!

El Rancho

This place has been around forever, that long that even my ecuadorian immigrant parents had their first Latin club experience here when they arrived to Canada 35 years ago. If you are looking to improve your salsa, cha cha and bachata skills, El Rancho has a dance crowd that would seriously help step up your game. This place is so legendary and it has been well known for being one of the best salsa places in town. This place not only has two floors of Latin music, it is also serves as a restaurant before the club opens… and you guessed it, complimentary salsa lesson are also offered to beginners at 9pm on the weekends. Baro

Let me take you to Latin America this weekend without leaving Toronto. I know what you are going to say, that’s a restaurant, yes it is. Baro is owned by Chef Steve Gonzales, the former chef de cuisine at Origin and the class clown of Top Chef Canada first season. The restaurant is located on the ground floor, beautiful decorated, that offers an excellent variety of South American dishes, dessert and handcrafted cocktails. NOW, the real party is on the third floor where Dj Casilimas is rocking Latin top 40’s to keep you on your feet all night. Drinks are reasonable priced for King West. Over the years many locals and International Latin artists have graced Baro nightclub with their incredible talented performances that will get you dancing all night, including La Firma Santana, Fito Blanko, Latinos with attitude and many more!. Fridays and Saturdays are well packed but it is totally worth the trip downtown. My advise, arrive early!
