7 Life Hacks to Get in Shape for Summer

It’s that time of year again, where everyone is stressing about getting in shape for summer. After a long winter, we forget that we want our bodies to look “beach-ready.” We go crazy looking up “how to lose weight in a week.” Many of us even go on strict diets that can end up being dangerous for our health or just super unhealthy. If you are one of those people, keep reading to find out our 7 life hacks to get in shape for summer.

Quick Fixes Don’t Last

If you want to get in shape for summer, stop buying into these quick fixes. A week juice cleanse is not going to have a long-term effect on your body – in fact – you will probably go back to the way you were before you decided to only have juice for a week. Start with small changes months in advance – don’t expect to be beach-body ready overnight, this takes time and effort. Start making changes that will result in a healthy mindset and stick to the changes if you want to see results.

Get Your Heart Rate Up

Make sure that you are always getting your heart rate up! This is a great life hack for getting in shape for summer. This can be done through regular exercise and HIIT (high-intensity interval training), HIIT is one of the best ways to get your heart pumping and keep your cardio interesting at the gym. Another great way to get your heart rate up is working out outside when it gets hot. Go to your local park for a run or go for a hike! Check out more hikes to keep fit and Events in Hamilton here!

Stop Weighing Yourself

Weighing yourself after every juice cleanse or run will make you go crazy and is not the way you should be going about getting in shape for summer. The scale is a great way to track the progress of weight loss don’t get me wrong – but it does not factor in muscle gain. The only thing you should be focused on is maintaining a healthy weight for your height – other than that don’t rely on the scale to track progress.

Don’t Compare Yourself To Others

One thing we can get caught up in while trying to get in shape for summer is comparing to ourselves to others. This is because we have access to so many social media channels that only show the perfect selfies, and can ultimately destroy individuals confidence. Instead – focus on yourself, and your own goals because that is when you will see the best results.

Make Healthy Living A Lifestyle

If you go on a diet, you are thinking of it as something you have to do. Instead, what you should be doing is incorporating healthy living into your lifestyle as a way to keep long-term results and get in shape for summer. Learn how to nourish your body, what you need to eat in a day in terms of how much protein, carbs, and fats you should be having in a day. Substitute unhealthy snacks for healthy ones. Try going to more healthy restaurants and places that use organic ingredients. Drink lots of water and take out any high-calorie drinks out of your diet like SODA! Eat your veggies, get a lot of sleep, and you will see results. Check out healthy restaurants and Events in Toronto here!

Get Into Strength Training

Strength training doesn’t mean becoming a body-builder overnight. Strength training is extremely important to get in shape for summer. It gives your body a huge boost by increasing your metabolic rate, and it allows the body to burn more calories throughout the day. Strength training will allow you to feel stronger, healthier, and grow lean muscles.

Have A Workout Partner

Having someone who has the same goals as you to get in shape for the summer will be your motivation and support system. If you can’t force yourself to get up and go to the gym by yourself, having someone go with you will make you want to go more and it may be less intimidating. You can motivate each other, eat healthy together, and set goals. Getting into a healthy lifestyle doesn’t have to be intimidating or boring. It is going to be a great life change that you won’t regret!
