As your 20s slowly start to creep up on you and you’re suddenly in your mid-20s thinking – there’s so much out there that I still haven’t done, haven’t accomplished, or haven’t seen. There are so many things to do before you hit your 30s and before you settle down you don’t want to regret not doing the things you want to do while you’re in your prime age. Here are 8 things you need to do in your 20s that will be your checklist for the rest of the time you have left in your 20s.
Travel The World
Take at least one long-term trip somewhere around the world. Whether its SouthEast Asia, Europe, North America – go somewhere you’ve always wanted to go and this will make the best memories in your 20s. Take advantage of your age and don’t stress about money yet – you have your whole life ahead of you to become successful, but for now – save up for that trip you’ve been itching to go to. Find Your Passion
For some of you – you’ve had your passion from a young age and it hasn’t changed since. But for a lot of people in their 20s – this isn’t the case. Your 20s are the times where you will learn so much about yourself and you have the world at your fingertips. You will learn that you don’t need a million friends, you will learn that some people are actually not in your life for the best interests and you will learn that spending more time to yourself is in your benefit. Finding your passion in your 20s is crucial and it is usually something that comes naturally – most people don’t know what their passion is during University because they are so young and finally realize it after they are done. This is all okay and you are not alone!
Learn A New Language
Learning a new language in your 20s will be a key asset for your resume and as well in life. It is so important to learn a new language and be immersed in your heritage or a new culture altogether. This will also be helpful during your travels – knowing a new language can open so many new opportunities and you won’t want to not check this off your list of things to do in your 20s.
Go Camping
If you haven’t been camping yet and you’re in your 20s please go book a campsite right now! Grab a group of friends and go up north and just enjoy being in nature. Sometimes we get so caught up in the fast pace life that we don’t appreciate the little things and what the world has to offer us. Nature is such a great therapeutic thing to be immersed in and camping all together will make you appreciate everything you have. Go somewhere that has a terrible cell phone connection and just enjoy every minute spent with the people you’re surrounded by. The best thing about camping is you’re not on any time schedule and you can just enjoy life the way you want to for a few days and not care about anything else.
Work On Yourself
With social media, people’s lives shoved in our faces, it is so hard not to compare yourself to others – one thing you should do in your 20s is stop! Just stop comparing and saying that other people are “goals.” Achieve the goals you want to achieve in your 20s and be happy with yourself. Take the extra time to pamper yourself, take care of your body, do yoga, meditate, whatever you need to do to become the best version of yourself.
Join A Team
Whether it’s a soccer team, dance team, swim team, join! Get a group of friends and join something you all want to do. This is a great activity for the Summer months and will make for great memories. You will meet new people, get out, have something to look forward to and spend time with people. Your 20s are the perfect time to get into a team!
Make Your Home Feel The Most Like You
Whether you still live with your parents or you’ve finally moved out into your own place – make your living environment the most like you. Nothing feels better than coming home to a place you truly love and can spend lots of time in. Take time to make some DIY projects for your new place to make it feel cozy and homey. Nothing is worse than going home to somewhere that doesn’t feel lived in. Be proud of your first place and take advantage of arts and crafts to keep your spending to a minimum. Your friends and family will be so impressed when they come to visit you and will not want to leave.
Go To An Event You’ve Always Wanted To Go To
Coachella? Osheaga? Whatever it is – grab a friend who has the same interests as you and just go for it! Do this in your 20s because you will definitely not have the time to be going to music festivals later in life. Whatever event you wan to go to – you need to just get the tickets and go. Save up for it, get excited and don’t think about it too much. Just remember that it’s something that you’ve always wanted to do.
