Hike in Crissy Field
This former army airstrips offers 4.3-mile waterfront promenade through grassy fields, past sheltered beaches, windsurfers and picnic areas. You can start your hike at the informative center to get some background info, and then stop for a bite at the Warming Hut for organic food.

Explore Golden Gate Park
San Francisco’s most iconic space stretches for 3 miles between Haight-Ashbury and the Pacific Ocean and offers 1,017 acres of gardens, walking paths, lakes, recreation fields, museums, a Japanese tea garden and even a pasture home to a herd of bison.

Wonder around in Chinatown
Other than eating and shopping you can walk up the narrow stairs to the Tien Hau Temple above Grant Avenue, on the alley known as the Street of Painted Balconies. It is the oldest Taoist temple in the U.S.

While parts of Golden Gate Park are packed with camera-happy tourists, the Strawberry Hill area offers a beautiful and more peaceful outdoor alternative. Located near the center of the park, Strawberry Hill offers beautiful views of downtown San Francisco, picturesque walking trails, and a waterfall that leads into man-made Stow Lake.
