Underrated Date Spots in San Francisco

August 23, 2017

With so many people claiming to leave their heart in San Francisco, it’s no wonder the Northern California city is a hot spot for budding romance. As one of the birth spots of eccentric and carefree hippy culture, San Francisco may just be one of the best cities in the world for out of the ordinary date spots. Here are a few out of the box date ideas you may want to keep in your back pocket.

Church of 8 Wheels

Unassuming on the outside, visitors to Church of 8 Wheels should prepare for an experience more colorful than its stain glassed windows. The once Catholic Church on Fillmore Street now operates as a full on roller disco club. Skaters can take lessons, or take part in a full-fledged “rolligious” disco experience. After all, wearing basic shoes for your entire date can be a tad boring.

Strawberry Hill

While parts of Golden Gate Park are packed with camera-happy tourists, the Strawberry Hill area offers a beautiful and more peaceful outdoor alternative. Located near the center of the park, Strawberry Hill offers beautiful views of downtown San Francisco, picturesque walking trails, and a waterfall that leads into man-made Stow Lake. Pack a picnic and take it all in.

Beyond Canvas

Test your inner Picasso with a workshop at Beyond Canvas — an art studio for artists of all levels. Sip some wine while you and your date paint the night away, or take advantage of San Francisco’s beautiful year-round weather with an open-air painting workshop. Bonus: new self-made art for your apartment.
