While staying in hotels might be the obvious choice – there are so many other great ways to travel. A new experience would be ditching the hotels and trying something new like camping, hostels, and couchsurfing during your travels. This will make you save a ton of money, experience something new and exciting – all while creating the best moments. Keep reading to check out our second #FeelTheChill feature and ways to travel without staying in hotels!
#FeelTheChill
Our #FeelTheChill feature today is Haley, who decided to save money while traveling, ditched the hotels and found an alternative.
“My favourite new experience while traveling was in Greece. In order to travel more, we saved money on hotels by staying in hostels and even tents! One night my friends and I all slept on the beach (I would not recommend. Did you know the tide rises significantly in the morning?). We were able to do way more activities and try new food by doing this.”
Go Camping
Tent camping along the West Coast? Yes – that definitely sounds better than staying in hotels. Who wouldn’t want to have an amazing experience trying something other than a hotel? Of course, hotels are the safe way to go – but if you want to save money on sleeping accommodations then camping could be a good choice. If you’re planning on driving across a country or even backpacking – this can be a good alternative. Check out fun things to do on your road trip and Events in Vancouver here!
Stay In Hostels Instead Of Hotels
Hostels are a great alternative for hotels. It will save you a ton of money – and if staying in the same room as other people isn’t your thing don’t worry. Hostels also provide private rooms that you can stay in with other shared amenities. Hostels are a great way to meet other travelers as well – there is usually a common space where everyone can meet up and it is a great way to get to know people. Hostels are becoming more and more popular around the world and they are an amazing way to get around and save money.
Try Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing can add a lot more value than any hotel can. Couchsurfing allows you to stay with locals and get to know the place you are visiting, unlike a tourist. You can stay at someones home for next to nothing compared to what you would pay at a hotel. This will save you a ton of money and give you a great experience. The whole point of couchsurfing is to actually get to know the host – and let them be your tour guide, friend, and home for your travels.
Spend Money Elsewhere
One major bonus of not staying in hotels is being able to spend your money elsewhere. Let’s say you’re going to Europe and staying at hotels is eating up at your budget and you can’t really afford to go to any more places. Well – I can assure you, any of the options we gave you would save you a TON of money and will allow you to spend your money on other necessities like tours, food, and travel tickets. For places like Los Angeles – it can start to add up so you really need to make sure you are spending your money in the right places – and save when you can! Check out more things you can do when you save money on where to stay and Events in Los Angeles here!
