FREE OUTDOOR ADVENTURE NEAR NEW YORK CITY!

Hey New York City, make the last weekend of summer count with some of our favorite free outdoor adventure. New York City offers the best waterways for kayaking or canoeing. Before summer is over you need to grab a paddle and enjoy NYC’s beautiful views. Paddling on the New York Harbor or East River is a whole new experience for those who have loves being outdoors. Enjoying summer is not about how many places you went; it is about the experiences and outdoor adventure that touched our soul.

Best Outdoor Adventure Picks in New York City

Long Island City Community Boathouse
First come, first served kayaking out of scenic Hallet’s Cove everyday. Each session runs 20 minutes or longer. You can also sign up for gratis organized trips to spots such as Hell Gate Bridge or Brooklyn Bridge Park; or join a “Chill Sunset Paddle” that’s optimized for orange-tinted views of the Manhattan and Long Island City.

Manhattan Community Boathouse
This location is best for the beginners. You can head to Pier 96 or the dock at 72nd Street and float away for 20 minutes. You can also volunteer to help out at the boathouse

North Brooklyn Boat Club
Offers free Canoeing and Kayaking throughout the summer warm days. You can also volunteer to become a trip assistant if you have enough experience.

Brooklyn Bridge Park Boathouse
Located at Piers 1 and 2, you can take the kayak there. Get there early, it is always busy at BBPB. They have 25 vessel fleet and you can skipper on the East River for 20 minutes on Saturday and Thursday evenings. You can also volunteer at location.

Downtown Boathouse
The Downtown Boathouse offers the best NYC’s free kayaking scene. If they are no wait you can float away for more than 20 minutes. Free paddling offers on weekends and holidays from 9 am to 5 am until October 9. Also evening paddling occurs Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights from 5 om to 7:30 pm.
