Road trip idea: visit any (or all) of these American cities and see the prettiest college campuses in the world. America is notorious for its stunning college campuses, which are all very different and all very beautiful.
Princeton University, New Jersey
With buildings dating back to the seventeen hundreds, this is considered the oldest university campus in America. The ancient, gothic style academic buildings are complimented by the school’s immaculate landscaping of the 500 acre campus. The most famous building is Nassau Hall which, after burning down twice, has been rebuilt in an Italian Renaissance-style. Just south of Nassau Hall is the “Big Cannon” which was left at the school by British troops after the Battle of Princeton.
Loyola Marymount University, California
It’s hard not to mention at least one of the many tropical campuses in California. Loyola Marymount University sits atop a bluff in the Del Rey Hills, boasting views of the Pacific Ocean and the Los Angeles Basin. The campus is riddled with stark white academic buildings and chapels as well as large open grass areas and the Sculpture Gardens. The Princeton Review has named the campus one of the most beautiful in the country.
College of the Atlantic, Maine
This campus is definitely for nature lovers. Situated on Mount Desert Island, this campus has easy access to the beautiful Bar Island and Frenchman Bay. The college is very unique because it offers degrees almost exclusively in human ecology. This passion for the environment is reflected in the school’s location in the woods, surrounded by trees and decorated with colored flowers.
Duke University, North Carolina
This campus is home to the Sarah P. Duke Gardens, 55 acres of beautiful landscaped and wooded areas where visitors tour constantly and classes are sometimes held. There are 4 sections to explore: the Garden of Native Plants, the Historic Core and Terraces, the William Louis Culberson Asiatic Arboretum and the Doris Duke Center Gardens. Admission is FREE!
