Tate Modern Art Gallery Opening, London, June 17
The original Tate Modern art gallery was launched in 2000 and is Britain’s national gallery of international modern art and forms part of the Tate Group. This upgrade and renovation will transform the Tate Modern gallery with an iconic new building added to the south end of the existing gallery, creating more space for displaying the enormous collection including performance and installation art. This will allow visitors to engage more deeply with art as well as create more social spaces for visitors to unwind and relax. Midnight Sun Film Festival, Sodankylä, Finland, June 15-19
This festival should be on the bucket list of every movie-goer. The annual five-day film festival is held in the second week of June (when the sun shines 24/7). At the festival you can watch films without a break all day and all night long. Modern films from all parts of the world are shown, as well as contemporary Finnish films and cinema classics. Don’t be surprised if you lose track of night and day in this one-of-a-kind movie event!
New York City Gay Pride Parade, June 26
On June 26th, 2015 the USA Supreme Court ruling on same-sex marriage was passed in 13 states and #LoveWins reached 6.2 million tweets within six hours. The most famous pride event in the world, this event is notorious for being an amazing time. The purpose of the event has broadened to include recognition of the fight against AIDS and to remember those lost to illness, violence and neglect. The parade will begin at noon at 36th Street and Fifth Avenue. Show your support and pride this year by getting to New York on June 26th!
