We are two months into the year 2017. Now is the right time to make your travel plans! From North America to Africa to Asia, these places are set to offer attractive travel opportunities.
Canada
It’s Canada 150th birthday and the country is welcoming everyone to celebrate! Simply sign up for the free discovery pass. This pass gives you unlimited opportunities to enjoy National Parks, National Marine Conservation Areas and National Historic Sites across the country! Visit Banff National Park, one of seven parks in the Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks World Heritage site. Thinking of visiting Southern Ontario? Air Canada is offering free stopovers in Toronto, that means you get two vacations for the price of one. Montreal is another great option for food lovers and explorers who wants to see a Francophone city. VIA Rail is also participating in the 150th birthday by offering passengers the chance to take a trip from coast to coast. From March to October, the company is offering specially designed packages created to allow travelers to discover new routes like Vancouver – Toronto – Montréal – Halifax.
Cape Town, South Africa
The “Mother City” surrounded by dramatic mountains and sandy beaches has more to offer than its natural beauty. Africa’s first major museum dedicated to contemporary art is set to open in September 2017. Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (Zeitz MOCAA) will house a collection that incorporates not just local paintings and sculptures, but photography, moving image, and costume. The addition of the building’s original structure will be pillowed glazing panels, inserted into the geometry of the hotel floors, which will bulge outward as if gently inflated. By night, this will transform the building into a glowing lantern or beacon in the harbor. Explore Cape Town, getaway to Africa!
Tokyo-Kanazawa-Kyoto-Osaka, Japan
Visiting Japan should be on everyone’s list! Tokyo Disney Sea is celebrating the 15th anniversary of its opening with some new attractions based on popular films like Finding Nemo and Frozen. The park also features many special shows as part of “The Year of Wishes.” Hop on the new Hokuriku Shinkansen (bullet train) to Kyoto via Kanazawa. The city is known for as a “UNESCO Creative City” on the Sea of Japan. Famed for its traditional gardens, preserved geisha and samurai districts, ice cream cones topped with 24-karat gold, and temples to rival those in Kyoto. Still can’t get enough of Japan? Take the Thunderbird train to my favorite city of modern architecture, nightlife, and hearty street food, Osaka!
