Thailand is one of the most breathtaking places in the world. Here are the top three islands to visit if you ever find yourself there.
Ko Lipe
Also known as “Thailand’s Maldives”, this hidden gem is located in the Andaman Sea in southwest Thailand. There are three main beaches here: Pattaya Beach in the south, Sunrise Beach in the east and Sunset Beach in the west. Getting to Ko Lipe can be challenging; catch a flight from Bangkok to Hat Yai, a bus to Pak Bara pier and a ferry to Ko Lipe. Tarutao National Marine Park is nearby which is known for its great white sand beaches and turquoise waters.
Ko Samui
Located in the gulf of Thailand, this is the second-largest island after Phuket. This island attracts everyone from backpackers to celebrities. A range of water sports is available to do here such as flyboarding, jet skiing, wakeboarding and water skiing. The most popular and commercialised beaches are Chaweng and Lamai, while the northern beaches and their adjacent villages are much more peaceful choices.
Ko Hong
This uninhabited paradise is just 25 minutes from the resort town Ao Nang by speedboat. “Hong” means “Room” or “Chamber” in Thai. In the middle of the half-circle shaped island you can find yourself in a secret lagoon made of giant limestones. The entrance to this lagoon is through a narrow cliff passage to the open emerald sea. Get your camera ready! This island is renowned for its breathtaking beauty due to its shallow coral reefs and fine, sandy beaches. Enjoy a picnic lunch, swimming, snorkeling, and kayaking or simply stand in the water and be surrounded by hundreds of fish!
